History of Medical Research in Myanmar

The history of medical research in Myanmar dates back to the colonial period in the late 19th century and early 20th century when British colonial administrators established modern medical institutions and conducted medical research in the country. Some of the earliest medical research in Myanmar focused on tropical diseases and public health, as well as the study of traditional Burmese medicine and pharmacology.

After independence from Britain in 1948, medical research in Myanmar continued to expand, establishing new medical institutions and developing national health policies. In recent years, the government of Myanmar has made efforts to improve the country's healthcare system and encourage the growth of medical research, including establishing new research centers and partnerships with international organizations.
